Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer System Safety / Engineer System Safety to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position will be in Rolling Meadows, IL.The Engineer will get to support multiple product lines in the Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability division.  Candidate will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and verifying subsystem R&M performance requirements and ensuring that R&M program requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in requirements definition and creation.
  • Performs hazard analysis in accordance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors on System Safety efforts.
  • Support Engineering Milestone Reviews.
  • Review engineering changes, support Failure Review Boards and System Safety Working Groups.

This position can be filled the Principal Engineer System Safety or Engineer System Safety level:

Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer System Safety:

  • 5 Years of engineering experience with bachelor’s in science from an accredited college/university; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
  • Must have experience in a Systems Engineering Discipline.
  • Must have the ability to obtain an interim secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Principal Engineer System Safety:

  • 3 years' experience in System Safety Engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following analysis methodologies: MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-470, and/or MIL-HDBK-781
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense industry.

Basic Qualifications Engineer System Safety:

  • 2 Years of engineering experience with bachelor’s in science from an accredited college/university; 0 Years with Masters.
  • Must have experience in a Systems Engineering Discipline.
  • Must have the ability to obtain an interim secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Engineer System Safety:

  • 3 years' experience in System Safety Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense industry.


Salary Range: $73,600 USD - $110,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,600 USD - $136,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
