Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Payload and Ground Systems Division in Azusa, CA, is seeking a Principal (Level 3) Facilities Engineer. This role will report on-site daily.

The successful candidate will communicate with customer and Azusa facility engineering team daily to determine project requirements and scope of work. Plans, designs, and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, machinery, equipment, structures and all facilities. Supports the facilities reliability and infrastructure optimization team and facilities project engineering team in executing and managing facilities projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and program facilitation requirements. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specs, company or government restrictions, and timelines. Coordinates with architecture & engineering firms on design specs, prepares bid sheets, and awards contracts. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, labor, installation and materials based on allocated budget and scope of work. Inspects and oversees direction of construction and installation. Act as a subject matter expert, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.  

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of related technical engineering and field experience, OR a Master's degree in a STEM field & 3+ years of related technical engineering and field experience, OR a High School Diploma & 9+ years of related technical engineering and field experience
  • Candidate must possess the knowledge, skills, and technical expertise in facilities construction, major maintenance and/or renovation related fields.
  • Candidate must have experience in preparing statements of work, budgets, negotiations, and must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a facilities engineering field    
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing campus environment
  • Education or experience related to electrical and/or mechanical engineering
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Experience operating in a Union environment


Salary Range: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
