Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities. Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Obtains and supervises outside contractors. Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities. Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements. Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices.

The Construction Engineer will be extremely familiar with the construction subcontracts, cost estimating, scheduling,  safety, and quality.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
• Effectively process subcontractor submittals in accordance with both the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the Sentinel Infrastructure protocols
• Be extremely familiar with the quality inspections process
• Be extremely familiar with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
• Interpret and manage the construction project schedule
• Primary Interface with customer representative as required
• Audit daily construction log
• Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development

Basic Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).

• Documentable training and field experience with design and construction projects including industrial, aerospace or defense.

Typical Minimum Education or Experience
9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD in Engineering, Construction Management or Engineering Management. An additional 4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large scale design or construction management preferably on Department of Defense and/or missile contracts.
• Must be able to present a professional demeanor while dealing with both subcontractors, clients and peers.
• Ability to process a large volume of construction submittals and Requests for Information (RFI).
• Prior experience preparing design and specification packages.
• Prior experience on large-scale projects with tight deadlines.
• Prior experience on projects with limited work space available.


Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
