Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities. Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Obtains and supervises outside contractors. Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities. Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements. Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Assist Transportation Lead and Program Manager in oversight of Road and Bridges infrastructure for the Sentinel program including Wings (3) road/route assessment, improvements, operations, repair and post-conversion hand-off.  Road and bridges work will focus on Sentinel construction and delivery routing, roads, and bridges sufficient for handling: vehicle types and trips; operations, maintenance, and repairs during construction maintaining road and bridge performance criteria; and integration with construction supplies, deliveries, personnel travel, and emergency response; and transitions from and to the DAR (long-term road system use) program.

  • Provide technical leadership overseeing partner development of Roads and Bridges Assessment, Improvements, and Operations Program and associated analysis, evaluation, and recommendations.  

  • Provide technical leadership overseeing partner development of Sentinel program routing development to service construction, module delivery, construction supplies, personnel/HUB/Laydown Yard travel to Sentinel conversion sites.

  • Provide technical leadership overseeing partner development of Sentinel program road and bridge improvement layouts and designs upgrade existing routing to meet Sentinel program requirements including Air Force and local standards.

  • Provide technical leadership overseeing partner development of Sentinel program routing operations, maintenance, and repair program including road and bridges monitoring and corrective actions program to sustain program requirements.

  • Perform leader/task manager role for assigned tasks and team members.  Team includes a variety of Northrop Grumman and Partner personnel.

  • Oversee and review compliance of partner scope of work, performance, and schedule.

  • Prepare regular reports on partner performance.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Principal Engineer: Bachelors Degree and 5 years of infrastructure experience; 3 years with Masters

  • Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelors Degree and 9 years of infrastructure experience; 7 years with Masters

  • Experienced in subcontract management.

  • Experienced in engineering process of investigation, permit, design, and construct with focus on Roads and Bridges.

  • Experienced in Corps of Engineers or Air Force projects.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite of applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Demonstrated proficiency in meeting detailed deliverables with a high level of accuracy;

  • Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs;

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if required

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • BS in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or other related field;

  • Formal professional certification (PE, PMI, AACE, etc.);

  • Experience in an engineering / consulting/ or construction field;

  • Engineering Planning/Design experience a plus;

  • Environmental Compliance experience a plus;

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
