Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Gardener 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise crew of gardeners for day-to-day maintenance of campus
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspect of the maintenance of campus including scheduling, procurement, inventory control, equipment maintenance, pest control, fertilizing and weed control.
  • Supervise and assist with maintains of grounds by performing a combination of cutting lawns, trimming, and edging around walks, flower beds, and walls; pruning shrubs and trees, spraying lawns, shrubs, and trees; raking up leaves and litter; planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; watering lawns and shrubs; cleaning out drainage ditches and culverts.
  • May operate tractors equipped with attachments such as mower, fertilizer spreader, and lawn roller.
  • Supervise, maintain, and coordinate all irrigation works and tree care.
  • Maintain and update all works in work order system.
  • Act as POC to internal customers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Maintain and coordinate duties and task requiring use of outdoor spaces for special events and executive visits.
  • Supervise all other task and works associated with outdoor spaces.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must be able to communicate their experience in detail as it relates to the above responsibilities and basic qualifications in this role.

  • High School Diploma/GED with five (6) years of experience related to landscaping and outdoor space management.
  • 2 years’ experience supervisory skills in a landscaping setting
  • Pesticide License  
  • Hands on experience working in the field in a landscaping setting.
  • Ability to work 1st shift (5:30AM to 3:00PM PST)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Plant Science or Horticulture
  • Certified Urban Park Manager    


Salary Range: $56,600 USD - $94,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
