Northrop Grumman Defense Services (NGDS) has been contracted to provide technical support to Boeing on an F/A-18 E/F program.  The performing location will be at the Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans, LA (NOLA).  

NGDS has an opening for a Manager of Aircraft Maintenance 1 in support of this effort.  This position will report directly to the NGDS Program Manager based in Melbourne FL.

The NOLA manager for NGDS will provide pro-active leadership managing the daily operations of a 20+ person NGDS team.  In addition, the Manager will also be responsible to provide daily interface with Boeing leadership to ensure all Program milestones are achieved.

The NGDS team will support these aircraft at the Organizational “O” Level.  The team complement will include F/A-18 E/F Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Technicians (General Mechanics, Structures, Ordnance, Life Support, Avionics and Electrical). 

There will be a two-shift operation from the beginning; as the Manager you will select the second shift Team Leader (as a collateral duty).

The Manager of Aircraft Maintenance 1 will have broad responsibility to ensure the successful execution of this Program.  Responsibilities will include:

  • As the prime interface with our Boeing customer, you will be tasked to deliver high levels of Customer Satisfaction

  • You will be responsible as a P&L center to ensure that cost and schedule objectives are met, while ensuring that your team’s performance delivers a quality product

  • Will be tasked to recruit qualified “O” level candidates to support staffing ; and provide appropriate training for departmental personnel

  • Provide supervision and direction to aircraft maintenance personnel in carrying out aircraft maintenance functions as required

  • Ensure that assigned aircraft maintenance work is properly performed and is legibly documented

  • Ensure that the team remains in full compliance with all Policies and Procedures; especially as it relates to Safety, FOD and Tool Control

  • Initiate and approve personnel actions including PTO, pay changes, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and leaves of absence

  • Tasked to maintain team compliance with all administrative tasking

  • Provide accurate Manpower assessments to enable timely and accurate Financial Forecasting

  • You will be tasked to conduct briefings and generate Weekly Reports providing Program status

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma / GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in an aviation maintenance supervisory and/or management position or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of aircraft maintenance experience

  • Must have active DOD Secret Clearance to start and be able to maintain that clearance

  • Managerial or Team Leader experience

  • F/A-18 experience must exceed 5 years and familiarity with F/A-18 inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, removals, and repairs.

  • Understanding of F/A- 18 IETM’s (interactive Electronic Technical Manuals)

  • Working knowledge of the NAVAIR 4790 (NAMP)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to work any assigned shift and overtime as needed

  • Ability to multi-task various projects at a time and complete in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Navy Maintenance Master Chief Navy Enlisted Code (NEC) 8300 or equivalent job classification title with 10 years of experience in comparable job position

  • Direct experience working with Prime contractor

  • Experience deployed or on remote programs (away from home office)

  • Had previous Program “start-up” experience in military facility

Salary Range: $85,400 USD - $128,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
