The Aircraft Maintenance Manager 2 is responsible for administering and managing the maintenance of company aircraft, ground support equipment, and hangar facilities. The Maintenance Manager will report to the FAR 145 Repair Station Accountable Manager and will lead a team of Aircraft Mechanics. The Maintenance manager will also travel to support aircraft maintenance and RTS activities at other locations when required.

The primary work location of this position is at the company hangar facility at the Washington-Dulles Airport (IAD) in Virginia.

Other job responsibilities include:

  • Leading, managing, motivating, developing, and engaging a diverse workforce in a dynamic environment.

  • Coordinating with department leadership on day-to-day operational decisions and long-range strategic plans and budgets

  • Scheduling flight mechanics travel according to flight operations needs

  • Coordinating maintenance department activities with other departments such as Operations, Safety, Standards, Training and Administration

  • Assist DOM with Establishing operational procedures and policies to ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient departmental practices

  • Support DOM with mitigating risk by ensuring all  FAA regulatory compliance issues are resolved

  • Supporting the administration of relationships with all airframe and powerplant manufacturers and other vendor services

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of aviation maintenance experience with a background in FAR Part 145 repair station operations (will consider additional experience in lieu of education ie Associate's Degree and 17 years of experience OR High School Diploma and 19 years of experience)

  • Experience on corporate-class aircraft, including turbojet and turboprop aircraft

  • Previous aircraft maintenance management experience

  • FAA Aircraft and Powerplant certificate

  • FCC license

  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility to secure and maintain an airport-issued security badge

  • Eligibility to secure and maintain a US-issued passport

  • Proficiency with CMP and CAMP Maintenance Tracking programs

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Maintenance training and experience on Citation 680, Gulfstream 550, and King Air 350 aircraft


Salary Range: $122,200 USD - $183,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
