Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Subcontracts Manager 3 to join our team. This position can be in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a team of approximately six (6) to eight (8) Subcontract Specialists (various levels) managing GBSD Subcontracts.

This leader will guide their team to direct, manage, and monitor the cost, schedule, and technical performance requirements that are levied upon the Subcontractor to ensure performance and support of the contract milestones for multiple suppliers. The Manager will act as the main focal point to major suppliers for all Subcontract related activities, brief executive management and the Customer on the status/issues affecting performance or cost, and conduct program reviews with the Subcontractor and Program Office while engaging with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Hire, supervise, mentor, train, retain and grow a team of Subcontract Administrators (SCAs) helping to build the future of our organization
  • Assign and monitor SCAs’ workloads to ensure efficient and effective execution
  • Provide objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies
  • Direct the solicitation, negotiation and administration of major cost reimbursement and firm fixed price (FFP) subcontracts in compliance with internal procedures and the FAR/DFAR
  • Participate with contracts administration and purchasing to develop subcontract policies and procedures
  • Manage suppliers’ performance to meet technical, cost and schedule requirements
  • Develop internal and supplier relationships to foster successful supplier performance
  • Brief leadership on supplier status, issues affecting program execution and necessary corrective actions
  • Execute department procedures that typically affect direct reports and ensure adherence to them

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience (6 years with a Masters) in areas such as subcontracts, contracts, supply chain, or business/program management.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a formal lead/management position
  • Successful experience negotiating terms and conditions, cost, schedule, and work scope with suppliers
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cost reimbursement subcontracting
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR and SAP or similar systems
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance

This position reports to Huntsville, AL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Roy, UT, UT, USA.


Salary Range: $138,400 USD - $218,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
