Adaptive Optics Associates – Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Unit, is currently seeking a Material Planning Control Manager to support our Special Programs activities in East Hartford, CT.

AOA Xinetics (AOX) is a leader in developing ‘smart’ electro-optical and opto-mechanical products. AOX designs, manufactures and services optical & photonic solutions world-wide.  Our customers include Government, Industrial, U.S. Defense Primes and Second-tier Contractors; Markets for these technologies include astronomy, logistics, and defense missions such as directed energy and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR).

Overview

The Material Planning Control Manager plans, schedules and manages the efficient movement of material from receiving or the warehouse to production. Develops raw material requirements and scheduling requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules and plans and manages material movement with purchasing, warehouse, and production. May use Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Material Planning Control Manager provides an exciting technical opportunity in a high-growth, strategically important business for NGC. We are looking for an individual with exceptional people skills. Our ideal candidate has developed teams, can influence and motivate managers and peers to improve processes and products, has excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; must be highly influential in conversation and have a record of collaborative approach with peers/peer organizations. Specifically, the details of the position are the following:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the materials team to ensure compliance, material management for program success, manage audit requests, and strategize to reduce program costs while mitigating risks and working within all legal and compliance parameters.

  • Execute on strategies driven by cost analysis, resource planning, and operational capacity.

  • Interface with cross-functional stakeholders, such as Engineering, Finance, Legal, Business and Factory Operations, Planning and Logistics, to understand the business objectives, identify the gaps in current process and drive solutions.

  • Exercise judgment and discretion to develop solutions, remove obstacles and redefine approaches.

  • Recommend or set business strategies Oversees the identification of tasks and research, dependencies, costs; assigns resources, and communicates expectations to core team members.

  • Assess risks and identifies solutions to timely, efficient achievement of program goals.

  • Manage company material planning process and drive tactical execution of team activities to a common process.

  • Manage shipping & receiving process for all AOX and drive operational alignment to ensure material is handled efficiently from dock-to-stock through issuance and consumption.

  • Assess, coordinate, and manage administration of AOX forward stocking locations, to include consumables, direct, and indirect material.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or logistics experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or logistics experience.

  • Experience as a Material Planner or other manufacturing support role required.

  • Strong attention to detail required as this position requires processing large amounts of data across dozens of programs simultaneously.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to ensure changes to plans are fully understood.

  • Ability to organize, balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office required (particularly Excel)

  • Experience in ERP/MRP software including use of Bills of Materials or material requisitions required.

  • Ability to brief senior leadership.

  • US Citizenship required.

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.

  • Reasonable knowledge of manufacturing, inventory, production, procurement and quality basics, and engineering flows.

  • Costpoint experience.

  • Experience in MS Project, Dynafact or other scheduling software.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including theory of constraints.

  • Experience in Aerospace composite manufacturing preferred.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with improving workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods.

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Position will be located on-site at East Hartford, CT.

  • Travel to Devens, MA to support team meetings.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and light physical effort required.

Salary Range: $92,600 USD - $138,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
