LMDS has an opening for a Manager Subcontract Programs 2 – Machine Shop IPT Lead – Supply Chain to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Chandler, Arizona.Job Description
  • Responsible for the formation and management of a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT) which will ensure successful supplier management outcomes in the machined hardware and structures commodity.
  • Engage with program leaders across the Launch Vehicles – Space Systems portfolio along with stakeholders in engineering, quality, material program management, procurement, and across supply base to help facilitate optimal decisions in the machined hardware and structures commodity, increasing the probability of successfully accomplishing subcontracting on time, within budget, and to the needs of the customer.
  • Collaborate with members of the Machined Hardware and Structures IPT to ensure accurate capability assessments, improve or exit incapable or unresponsible suppliers, perform risk assessments, understand supplier capacity, understand requirements and forecasts across programs to ensure level-loading of the supply base, conduct root cause corrective action (RCCA) in the event of poor supplier performance or high impact material shortages, identify capability / capacity / performance gaps in the current supply base, and identify / vet / onboard best in class suppliers that can successfully fill the identified gaps.
  • Supports multi-functional reporting including executive level briefing. Ensures that all contractual direction to the supplier is issued through the procurement specialist with Delegation of Procurement Authority.
Must be willing to flexibly accept alternate assignment with the following job description:
  • Responsible for major subcontractors or major subcontracted systems.
  • Directs and manages all cost, schedule and technical performance requirements that are levied on the subcontractor or the product family and is required to ensure performance and support of the contract milestones of the system.
  • Acts as the main non-contractual focal point to the subcontractor; briefs executive management and customer on the status and issues affecting performance or cost; and conducts program reviews with the subcontractor and program office.
  • Responsible for and directs all internal phases of the subcontract from initiation of the business case for make or buy decisions through bid instructions, subcontract management plans, negotiation strategy, and cost accountability.
  • Makes decisions affecting the performance of the subcontractor. Establishes milestone objectives and manages performance to committed schedules and contractual specifications. Leads team composed of engineers, quality and procurement personnel.
  • Ensures that all contractual direction to the supplier is issued through the procurement specialist with Delegation of Procurement Authority.
Job Scope
  • Manages a matrix-driven team addressing a segment of a function. Responsible for coordination of a functional optimization project utilizing indirect influence and direct execution.
  • Responsible for the formation of the project charter and team in accordance with policies, procedures, and management directive. Accountable for measuring and reporting on the progress achieved by the project team and briefing functional stakeholders on progress.
  • Travels frequently to suppliers in the assigned commodity to assess capability / capacity / performance gaps, to support root cause corrective action, and to develop supplier relationships. Supports the rapid development and maintenance of detailed manufacturing milestone status as needed for critical or expedited parts.
  • Provides rapid daily escalation of supplier performance issues among matrixed stakeholders, leveraging matrixed resources and cross-sector teams to rapidly and demonstrably improve supplier performance in support of on-time delivery of critical and expedited parts.
  • Maintains awareness of part impact on program build schedules and revenue impact. Contributes informed inputs to monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial plans at the program and business levels.
Must be willing to flexibly accept alternate assignment with the following job scope:
  • Manages a segment of a program or a function.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing mgmt guidelines & general policies.
  • Program Manager responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Business or Supply Chain Management degree or degree in related field preferred. Manufacturing Engineering degree or similar will also be considered if paired with experience in a dedicated supply chain function.One of the following number of years of experience in Supply Chain Management:              a.  8 years with a Master’s Degree in a Business and/or STEM (Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics)              b.  10 years with a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business and/or STEM (Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics)              c.  14 years no degreePreferred Qualifications: 
  • Demonstrated experience in Machine Shop / Manufacturing Operations
  • Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Demonstrated experience in blueprint reading

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. Salary Range: $116,200 USD - $174,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
