The Corporate Talent Acquisition team is seeking a Senior Director to lead Northrop Grumman’s Diversity Recruiting function.

This position can be performed at any major Northrop location across the Enterprise, preference would be Falls Church, VA; other location examples Redondo Beach, CA; Melbourne, FL; Baltimore, MD; San Diego, CA; Irving, TX; Rolling Meadows, IL; McLean, VA

This high-visibility role provides strategic direction and thought leadership across multiple diversity recruiting and hiring initiatives that directly contribute to Northrop Grumman’s continued growth and success. This Senior Director is responsible for planning and executing key initiatives supporting increasing diverse talent pipelines including but not limited to experienced technical talent platforms and investments, skills-based hiring and achievement conference presence

This leader will represent Northrop Grumman externally to critical partner organizations such as industry groups and workforce alliances, collaborating with leaders at the highest levels within Northrop Grumman and at those external organizations to ensure Northrop Grumman’s commitments align to broader business need and are successfully executed. This leader will partner closely with key stakeholders across the organization to determine priorities, resources and commitments for initiatives and projects with shared accountability. As such, the successful candidate must be flexible and a progressive thinker with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks through an empowered, cross functional team from inception to completion in a changing environment. Excellent communication, change management, project management, collaboration, follow through and strategic partnering skills are required. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive the corporate diversity recruiting strategy, objectives, metrics and execution plans encompassing early-career talent, experienced technical talent, skills-based hires and non-traditional talent pools

  • Partner closely to identify and execute priorities with shared accountability among key stakeholders including Sector TA and HR leadership teams, TA Operations, UR&R, Global Corporate Responsibility/DE&I, Legal, Communications, GR

  • Represent NG with external organizations such as OneTen, AIA, Business Roundtable and National Space Council, providing strategic guidance and thought leadership and acting as liaison across highest levels of internal and external stakeholders

  • Evolve NG presence at achievement conferences to optimize candidate experience, streamline processes, plan for future hiring demand, increase offer acceptances while managing timelines, budgets and vendor relationships

  • Lead, coach and set strategic vision for diversity recruiting team including goal-setting, managing resources and budget, performance accountability

  • Evaluate and optimize investments, platforms and events to promote experienced diverse technical talent hiring

  • Lead execution of skills-based hiring initiative including stakeholder change management, training, systems and process updates, alignment with partner organizations and strategies

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher plus a minimum of 12 years of experience in human resources and/or talent acquisition

  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams 

  • Ability to take concepts and convert into strategies anchored in data trends and industry best practices that drive outcomes in support of current and future business needs

  • Proven ability to influence across all levels of leadership, teams, and external partnerships to ensure successful joint outcomes

  • Strong change management experience, problem solving skills and the ability to be flexible and adapt/change directions when needed 

  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects to completion, ability to organize, prioritize, plan, schedule, and follow up on concurrent tasks and elevating issues or obtaining additional resources when necessary 

  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to drive workstreams and initiatives simultaneously to meet business outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Talent Acquisition /Recruiting experience

  • Prior aerospace and defense industry experience

  • Proven experience leading Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging strategies and initiatives

  • Prior experience partnering with external industry organizations with a DE&I focus Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with, build business relationships and influence key stakeholders

  • Passionate about hiring and assimilating diverse and inclusive candidates

  • Strong executive presentation skills to all levels of leadership to include the CEO

This position reports to Falls Church, VA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 4 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $196,600 USD - $294,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
