Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (Program Protection/Anti-tamper) to join our team of qualified, diverse individualsThis position is located in Redondo Beach, CA. 

As an integral part of our multi-discipline engineering team, you will be on the forefront of developing next generation solution to protect technology for our nation’s warfighter.  This role is dual hatted with half the time providing program protection support and the other half providing anti-tamper support. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Focus on the identification and protection of Critical Program Information (CPI) and analysis of the development of program protection plans (PPPs) and solutions to ensure that developed and fielded capabilities deter efforts to reverse engineer (RE), exploit, or develop countermeasures and ensure against RE, replication, or modification by an unauthorized nation or organization effectively.
  • Assist with assessing, defining, developing, and implementing systems security engineering (SSE) requirements, including assessing security provisions in technical reviews, specifications, engineering and test plans, designs, and program deployment actions
  • Identify and prioritize security vulnerabilities discovered by vulnerability analysis tools and develop appropriate remedial countermeasures in the PPP
  • Lead analysis of customer’s concept of operations/employment and cyber security/anti-tamper requirements to propose, design, develop, and implement security/protection controls
  • Support system requirements development by ensuring standard processes for assessing, implementing, and verifying security requirements are followed
  • Support technical documentation/publication to document trades studies, system designs, analysis, and results related to systems security such as identifying Anti-Tamper Critical Program Information (CPI) and writing of Anti-Tamper Plan

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in STEM or related technical discipline and 9 years of relevant experience or an M.S. and 7 years of relevant experience, or a PHD in a related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiar with DoD System Security Engineering activities
  • Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and requirements development from controls
  • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NSA Type-1 certification process, Cross Domain Solution implementation and certification, or Multi-Level Security systems implementation
  • Familiarity with U.S Government Anti-Tamper (AT) processes and implementations Experience developing  cyber  security architectures in a Digital Engineering environment.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo or other similar system modeling tools
  • Experience applying agile methodologies to the development of  cyber  security capabilities for embedded systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals


Salary Range: $142,800 USD - $214,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
