Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer - Open to Niches: Cybersecurity T&E Lead (23-448) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
This position will report to the C2BMC Program leadership and coordinate 20 high-visibility MDA Cyber Events for the C2BMC element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Lead the Cybersecurity Test and Evaluation (T&E) planning, execution, and reporting of multiple T&E projects and MDA Cyber Events, documenting actionable T&E metrics and communicating with various intra/inter MDA-related organizations.
The Cybersecurity T&E lead is expected to frequently brief results and POAMs to MDA Executive leadership on behalf of C2BMC. Ensure team projects are completed following established program procedures, schedules, and work plans. Plan for and coordinate across National Team to ensure appropriate resources are represented at each C2BMC T&E Event. Conduct post-event analysis and ensure results from MDA Cyber events and the solutions to those results are incorporated into the Agile Development Lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
- Researches develops, and recommends appropriate Cybersecurity countermeasures for networks, systems, and applications based on test and evaluation information
- Supports various Cybersecurity T&E reviews performed by multiple external organizations and identifies gaps in security architecture, resulting in recommendations for inclusion in a risk mitigation strategy
- Maintains Cyber T&E Plans and POAMs to ensure compliance with DoD policies and directives, USCYBERCOM guidance, risk mitigation, and minimum-security policies and requirements
- Collaborates with other T&E organizations to develop rules of engagement (RoE), tailored test plans, and synchronize efforts across all T&E efforts
- Candidate must be able to be self-initiated and capable of leading large groups of people and data to drive solutions to and increase the cyber posture of C2BMC
- Depending on mission and test event requirements, travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations will be required.
Basic Qualifications:

- An active Secret clearance is required to start.
- 9 years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 13 years experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
- Ability to advise C2BMC leadership and senior MDA leadership to support the planning and execution of MDA Cyber events
- Ability to consult on and brief complex technical cyber information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of Cybersecurity architecture and engineering for suitability, survivability, and interoperability of systems to provide critical feedback to improve the overall Cybersecurity posture of C2BMC systems
- Extensive experience reviewing test plans, coordinating with multiple key stakeholders, engineering documentation, and evaluating scenarios as they relate to Cybersecurity and Cyber events
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) understanding and practical application of DoD policies and directives, USCYBERCOM guidance, NIST standards, and RMF controls for a Mission System
- Advanced experience in research and development in providing solutions to emerging Cybersecurity threats to analyze security findings/weaknesses and develop an executable Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs) for remediation of findings and revalidation of applied fixes
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISSP certification is highly desired
- The position requires on-call, evening, and weekend support during system anomalies and Cybersecurity tests.
- The primary location at the MDIOC (Schriever Space Force Base) with the C2BMC ISSM will also involve collaboration with stakeholders at other Colorado Springs locations.
