Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer - Cyber Security to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be responsible for System Security Engineering (e.g. Cybersecurity, Program Protection). This position is located in Melbourne, FL.

The selected Cyber Systems Engineer will have experience with Cybersecurity implementations based on DoD, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Committee on National Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI), and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, policies and guidelines. Candidates should be comfortable working in an Agile Development Environment employing agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

Essential Functions:

• This position requires knowledge and experience using systems engineering methodologies and techniques.

• Requirements development and analysis, including supporting trade studies.

• System Architecture and Modeling

• Must be able to prepare technical documents, support ongoing authorization inputs, develop procedures, and work in a fast-changing dynamic environment with minimal direction.

• Responsible for System Security Engineering (SSE) duties as assigned.

• Comfortable working in an Agile Development environment.

• Interface with other cyber functional areas, internal company management and executives with a focus on effective program execution and mission assurance.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 14+ years Cybersecurity experience OR Master’s degree in a STEM and 12+ years of experience OR PhD in STEM and 9+ years of experience

- Experience with DoD System Security Engineering activities

- Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and requirements development from controls

- Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance (with a background investigation completed within last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before establishing a start date (contingency)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Possess a DODD 8570 certification, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar network/security certifications

- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo or other similar system modeling tools

- Experience developing cyber security architectures in a Digital Engineering environment.

- Experience applying agile methodologies to the development of cyber security capabilities for embedded systems.

- Experience with NSA Type-1 certification process, Cross Domain Solution implementation and certification, or Multi-Level Security systems implementation

- Experience working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals

- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

- Familiarity with U.S Government Anti-Tamper (AT) processes and implementations

- Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance to include a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)


Salary Range: $153,000 USD - $229,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
