Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a candidate with outstanding leadership skills to fill a Cyber Systems Engineering Manager 2 position for the Intelligence & Sensing Solutions (I&SS) Cybersecurity Solutions (CS) organization in the Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization located in Annapolis Junction, MD.

This is a dual role encompassing both people leadership and direct technical performance. This position will manage a team that may support multiple programs, projects, and initiatives. The candidate should have a technical performance role currently in place that can account for at least 80% of their time.

This position is 100% onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff

  • Own planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract

  • Provide direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance

  • Oversee projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group performed by non-exempt and/or exempt employees

  • Become involved when required to assist in meeting schedule deadlines or to resolve technical or operational problems

  • Interpret and execute policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units

  • Ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget

  • Function as an advisor to unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations

  • Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts

  • Conduct briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions

  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software

  • Determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls

  • Prepare operating instructions

  • Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems

  • Ensures software standards are met

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree, or higher, in a related field and 6 or more years of experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required

  • Ability to obtain program approval on EPICCOASTER

  • Experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams such as a Product Owner or Scrum Master

  • Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Agile methodologies

  • Previous Functional Management Experience

  • Experienced in all aspects of the Engineering processes and Software development

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (Associate or Certified Level)

This position reports to Annapolis Junction, MD, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 6 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
