Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services is seeking a Staff Cyber Security Engineer to join our Classified Converged Networks Team; This position will be supporting projects based in Redondo Beach, CA or Baltimore, MD.

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Perform system or network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, to include those with differing data protection/classification requirements

  • Provide cyber implementation guidance and oversight across technical teams

  • Provide analysis, design, development, implementation, and security assessments to ensure compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance

  • Design, configure and maintain security tools in a cloud and non-cloud environment to include Tenable Security Center/Nessus McAfee ePO, Ivanti Heat, Tanium, and Splunk.

  • Participate in team reviews of technical requirements, design and implementation plans prior to deployment of computer systems, digital communications systems, networking devices, computer architectures, and computer security penetration tools and techniques

  • Participate in cyber security assessment activities and review cyber security assessment methods, plans, procedures, and reports

  • Lead and conduct vulnerability management meetings with key stakeholders

  • Assist in a secure change management process and related Change Control Boards (CCB).

  • Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management as required.

  • Apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of Cyber Security implementation

  • Provides highly technical and specialized guidance concerning automated solutions to complex information processing problems.

**Occasional travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI clearance

  • MS Degree with 12 years of experience in IA/ cyber security experience in the Defense-Aerospace industry or BS degree with 14 years of IA/ cyber security experience, in Defense-Aerospace industry. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree

  • Current DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level II certification

  • Experience implementing and managing security tools such as: McAfee ePO, Splunk Enterprise Security, Tenable SecurityCenter, and Tanium

  • Experience with Linux & Windows system administration

  • Excellent technical document preparation skills (Tech Vol, Basis of Estimates, SCTM, RAR, CONOPS, SOPs, POAMs) and related artifacts as required to satisfy security controls across all families

  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework or similar cyber -security, risk-based frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, PCI/DSS, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of Modern Network and Cloud technologies

  • 5+ years of experience configuring and securing systems to achieve compliance with Security requirements (Controls, STIGS, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active TS/SCI w/ CI Polygraph

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or Cyber Security

  • DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 3 and CISSP Certification.

  • CCSP or CCSK Certification

  • Has worked in SAP or SCI environments

  • Scripting with PowerShell and Bash

  • Strong knowledge of security architecture and engineering

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft and Linux

  • 15 or more years of experience as an ISSE or System Administrator

  • Must have excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have experience in communicating with various levels of leadership

  • Experience leading multiple project assignments

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Redondo Beach, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $153,600 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
