Northrop Grumman is seeking Cyber Software Engineer Interns to join the Mission Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in Cincinnati, OH

Roles and Responsibilities

Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Must posses an undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field from an accredited college/university or completing the degree within 1 year of start date.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Experience in software development to include any of the following: kernel mode, embedded, command and control, web applications, network applications
  • Experience with SDLC (software development life cycle)
  • Familiarity with Assembly Languages (x86, x64, MIPS, PPC, or ARM )
  • Experience developing software for multiple operating system environments
  • Experience with virtual machine technology
  • OS Internals experience
  • Development of lower level networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP
  • Understanding of return oriented programming (ROP) concepts and execution
  • Ability to develop and implement shell code
  • Ability to understand secure / insecure programming concepts (format string vulnerabilities, heap overflows, etc.)
  • Familiarity with common source control tools (git, Mercurial, etc.) and automated build system workflows (Jenkins, Go, etc.)
  • Experience with the Agile methodology

This position reports to Cincinnati, OH, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Beavercreek, OH, OH, USA.


Salary Range: $80,800 USD - $86,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,800 USD - $105,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
