Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal/ Sr. Principal Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Shriever SFB/Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

Candidate will be a primary Network Engineer leading projects and supporting the program. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise for the assessment of compliance of information systems with DoD RMF standards (review, verify and validate required DoD IA RMF documentations and artifacts using DoDI 8510.01/DoD Risk Management Framework). Candidate must have proven experience in developing Cyber-secure Network device configurations (Firewalls, switches, routers). Some travel may be required depending on the work to be performed.

Essential Functions:

  • Wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions.
  • Works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
     

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either a Principal Network Engineer (Level 3) or Senior Principal Network Engineer (Level 4) per the requirements below: 

If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

  • An active Secret clearance is required.
  • Principal Network Engineer (level 3) - 5 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. 9 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Sr. Principal Network Engineer (Level 4) - 9 Years with Bachelors degree in a related Field ; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. 13 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must possess a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
  • The candidate must have hands-on Network Engineering experience and knowledge of network design, development and testing methodologies.
  • A solid understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, routing protocols BGP and OSPF.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven network traffic analysis, diagnostic and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
  • Hands on experience with multi-vendor switching routing (Juniper), WAN optimizer, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
  • Familiar with RMF including hands on work with RMF topics, the assessment of compliance of information systems with DoD RMF standards (review, verify and validate required DoD IA RMF documentations and artifacts using DoDI 8510.01/DoD Risk Management Framework).
  • Have experience using the Agile Framework or experience applying Agile fundamentals in engineer-focused work.
  • Firewall experience with Juniper firewalls a must and McAfee Sidewinder or Fortinet Fortigate a plus.
  • A solid understanding of JUNOS preferred.
  • Candidates with knowledge, skill sets or experience using protocol analyzers/sniffers (such as Wireshark). Industry vendor certifications from Juniper (JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE) a must and from Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) a plus.

This position reports to Colorado Springs, CO, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Schriever AFB, CO, CO, USA.


Salary Range: $86,300 USD - $129,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $107,000 USD - $160,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
