Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill an experienced Principal Network Engineer/Sr. Principal Network Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU). This position is located in Linthicum, MD.

This position will assist in the implementation, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of a diverse Ground Enterprise supporting multiple facilities.  This individual is required to possess intermediate technical skill sets in many aspects of WAN/LAN concepts and technologies when dealing with network hardware and the interconnects associated with routers, firewalls and switches. An intermediate understanding of dynamic routing protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) are a plus. This candidate with have a very good understanding of firewall implementation processes and concepts, and the management of these devices.  Candidates need to be able to implement Access Control Lists (ACL) via the Command Line Interface (CLI).

Candidates are required to be Security+ certified and willing to voluntarily submit to a polygraph if required after employment.  Candidates must have the ability to work within a group or independently where collaboration and attention to detail is critical to mission success.

Travel to both CONUS and OCONUS locations is required (25%). Occasional 24x7 shift support required.

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Network Engineer or Senior Principal Network Engineer grade based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years; 9+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement.
  • Sr. Principal: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9+years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 7+ years, or PhD with 4+ years; 13+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement.
  • Active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility, and willingness to sit for a polygraph
  • Layer 1 implementation
  • Layer 2 configuration, administration, maintenance
  • Configuration, administration, maintenance of EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), WAN
  • Firewall configuration, administration and management
  • Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)
  • Cisco NEXUS virtualization
  • Configuration, administration, maintenance of SolarWinds software
  • Entry skill sets of Network Topology diagrams (Primary product is Visio, and utilizing Teamcenter for documentation delivery)
  • Security+ Certification
  • Call manager experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Salary Range: $88,000 USD - $132,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $109,100 USD - $163,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
