Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services is seeking a high-performance computing (HPC) Administrator. This position oversees the development, operation, and administration of HPC systems and support services used by more than 10 different programs in Launch Vehicles at our Chandler AZ facility.

Job Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Perform as a HPC administrator for multiple networks in the classified environment.

  • Provide day to day support (technical/non-technical) & administration of HPC services, including user training, problem resolution, resources & priorities management.

  • Proactively assess capacity and service needs, develop rationale for changes/upgrades, provide budget input to business & IT leadership.

  • Manage Hardware/Software supplier relationships.

  • Interact with other Northrop Grumman HPC teams for technical interchange, address common issues, evaluate new and emerging technologies including cloud HPC.

  • Maintain compliant systems with up-to-date software, patching, updates, and hardware.

  • Maintain smooth operation of HPC systems in coordination with engineering end users, project managers, IT staff, and management.

  • Build, configure, and set up new HPC environments, and decommission old environments.

  • Quickly learn and maintain new HPC configurations and environments.

  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures.

  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines.

  • Maintain security audit and logging information as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).

  • Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.

  • Works under minimal direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

  • Mentor others in the growth of HPC knowledge and support and in the IT profession.

  • Provide surge support in other areas including System Administration, Workstation setup, networking, computer hardening and IT projects.

Required experience includes (but not limited to):

  • Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC), Slurm, Bright Cluster Manager, PBS Professional

  • Strong understanding of cluster resource managers, schedulers, clusterware and GPU computing.

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and available to work overtime. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends for maintenance and issue resolution.

  • Must be able to work onsite full time.

  • The ability to lift 40 pounds.

  • Ability and flexibility to provide support in other areas including System Administration, Workstation setup, networking, computer hardening, and IT projects.

  • Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server experience  

  • Experience working with Active Directory

  • Delinea/Centrify experience  

  • Must be able to effectively manage Linux system resources (e.g. ulimits and cgroups)

  • Must have experience in customer service, teamwork, oral and written communication skills.

**This position can be filled at either a level 3 or level 4.**

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 3 Years with Master of Science in related field; 5 Years with Bachelors in related field; 1 years related experience with without degree. 

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance must be acquired within a reasonable amount of time as determined by Northrop Grumman, maintaining the required clearance will be a condition of continued employment.

  • Must have current DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE) or greater, or be able to obtain within 6 months of start, as condition of continued employment.

  • Must have 3 years or more of continuous and demonstratable HPC knowledge.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4:

  • Minimum Education / Experience: 7 Years with Master of Science in related field; 9 Years with Bachelors in related field; or 13 years experience with without degree. 

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance must be acquired within a reasonable amount of time as determined by Northrop Grumman, maintaining the required clearance will be a condition of continued employment.

  • Must have current DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE) or greater, or be able to obtain within 6 months of start, as condition of continued employment.

  • Must have 5 years or more of continuous and demonstratable HPC knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications for Levels 3 and 4:

  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance

  • Experience with Certification & Accreditation process.

  • Background experience creating technical documentation, how-to's, and SOP’s.

  • The ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as condition of continued employment.

  • Experience with Nessus, Splunk, SCAP, NIST, system audits, vulnerability scanning, RMF.


Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,600 USD - $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
