Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Systems Software Analyst (SSA) to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Systems Software Analyst will plan, design, and oversee the execution of programs, applications, and collaborative tools and services support to Army Warfighter Exercises (WFX).

Responsibilities:

  • Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems

  • May design graphical user interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users

  • Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and controls

  • Performs systems integration tests between system components

  • Analyzes hardware and software system capabilities against customer requirements, and develops approaches using on-hand resources to fulfill those requirements

  • Tests and distributes client computer images required for operating models and simulations, and collaborative services during MCTP exercises

  • Monitors and adjusts system linkages and performance; and coordinate the analysis, adjudication, and correction of hardware and software problems

  • Identifies shortfalls in the software and installation components, develops potential remedies, and furnishes the customer with analysis results and recommendations

  • Develops command line operating system scripts and builds software routines to improve and simplify repetitive technical functions and procedures

  • Performs vulnerability and security scans on system releases, as required, and ensure systems identified issues are remedied in compliance with cybersecurity requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of Information Technology (IT) experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of 5 years of IT experience

    • Master’s degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of 3 years of IT experience

  • CompTIA Security+ CE required

  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with packaging and deploying software

  • Graduate degree in computer science or related field

  • Prior exposure to programming languages


Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
