An organization within Northrop Grumman Space Systems’ Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These “solid-state” laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure proper controls for information security and business resiliency are established and maintained in accordance with NIST SP 800-171 requirements.
  • Assist in interfacing with management to establish and align IT initiatives and priorities with business goals and objectives.
  • Maintain IT service levels acceptable to management in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
  • Serve as backup for Desktop Support, Network Administration, and Application Development roles, including: technical resource for both software and hardware projects.
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of IT services to enable manufacturing and general business processes using ERP and proprietary Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Assist in development of IT strategy / framework and ensure that individual projects are consistent with that strategy / framework.
  • Interface with management and engineering to develop and clarify project specifications, and advise on technical feasibility of projects.
  • Interface with corporate IT resources to understand and comply with established standards and data reporting requirements.
  • Support audits via maintaining compliance with corporate governance standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree within a STEM field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Programming experience in .net and tsql
  • Knowledge of Microsoft servers, networks and NIST SP 800-171 requirements
  • Ability to multitask several projects concurrently
  • Drive for continuous improvement
  • Preferred: Management of IT personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Experience with hardware & software in a manufacturing environment
  • Preferred: Manufacturing ERP experience

Salary Range: $128,400 USD - $192,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
