Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst 3 – Network Servers/Systems Administrator to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting our III Corps Mission Command Training program at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

The employee will be the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Server Team Lead and perform information assurance technical (IAT) II duties for RMF. The employee will interact with the government information systems security manager (ISSM) to ensure synchronization. The employee will ensure that the other RMF server technicians perform their daily duties. 

The employee will build, maintain, configure, update (Server Operating systems and Applications), apply Information Assurance Vulnerability Managements (IAVMS), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), run the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool against, and run vulnerbility scans on the:  Domain Controllers (DC) servers, Hypervisors (HV), Host Based Security System (HBSS) servers, Network Management System (NMS) servers, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) Security Centers (SC) and NESSUS systems, and Standalone (configuration and antivirus laptops), Advanced Simulation Technology Inc. (ASTI) management laptops, and other systems which support RMF (example:  management laptops, etc.).  The employee will download and apply Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) updates and plug-ins manually on the HBSS, ACAS SC, and NESSUS.  The employee will update and maintain documentation for Servers and systems.  The employee will download, apply, and maintain STIG checklists (Server, Internet Explorer (IE), .NET, Redhat Linux, McAfee, Active Directory, Domain Name System, HBSS ePO/Hip/Firewall/Policy/Rogue Sensor/Agent Handler, Firefox, Oracle JRE, IIS Server/Site, Database, Windows 10/Privileged User, Adobe Reader, Office, and Google Chrome).  The employee will perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks on HBSS, HVs, DCs, ACAS Security Centers, and NMS.  The employee will perform weekly and monthly backups for logs and HBSS, HVs, DCs, ACAS Security Centers, and NMS servers.  The employee will invoke warranties, research repair parts, and turn-in purchase request.  The employee will escort Vendor repair personnel when visiting MTC buildings for repairs.  The employee will assist Network Administrators with troubleshooting.

The employee will perform IAT I and IAT II duties for the Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN).  The employee will support all MTC users (government, contractor, and military) with NIPR ICAN support which includes hardware, software, and configuration.  The employee will work with the Fort Hood Network Enterprise Center (NEC) with NIPR ICAN and user problems, which include research NIPR user and system problems, submit and work remedy tickets, and escort NEC personnel when visiting MTC buildings.  The employee will update the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) Internet Service Provider (ISP) documentation for the NIPR Tenant Security Plan (TSP), which includes building and room VISIO diagrams and maintain Appendix C inventory. 

The employee will assist units and other organizations and coordinate with the Fort Hood NEC for exercise and training NIPR connections, by checking NIPR systems in for units and other organizations, and work with units and other organizations to place NIPR VOIPs in work cells.  The employee will invoke warranties, research repair parts, and turn-in purchase requests.  The employee will escort Vendor repair personnel when visiting MTC buildings for repairs.

The employee will perform other responsibilities.  The employee will scan peripherals for viruses.  The employee will Troubleshoot hardware and software problems.  The employee will update ASTi with Program Manager updates and software.  The employee will support the MTC, units, and other organizations during exercises.  The employee will help units with Tactical Operations Center Inter-Communication System (TOCNET) Enhanced Micro Central Switching Unit (eMCSU) connections during exercises.  The employee will troubleshoot NGC systems and ISP connection.  The employee will provide audio visual support. 

The employee will assist Spoke sites (Bliss, Carson, Riley, Sill, and Joint Base San Antonio), which may include travel.  The employee will escort Department of Public Works (DPW) facility personnel in secure rooms for maintenance, repairs, and Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) unit filter replacements.  The employee will work with Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information System Security Officer (ISSO) on U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), Installation Management Command (IMCOM), and Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) projects.  The employee will work with the Security Manager, ISSM, and ISSO to ensure Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) standards are followed.  The employee will work with the Security Manager and Specialist to ensure all physical security measures are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • A High School diploma with a minimum of 9 years of professional/military experience

    • A Bachelor’s in Science degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional/military experience

    • A Master’s in Science degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional/military experience

  • Must have administrative knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016/2019, Redhat Linux, Windows 10, SQL, HBSS, ACAS, and VMware.  Obtain computer environment certificate of training for all Operating Systems supported.  (This can be done on an approved Army site.)

  • Must have knowledge of Solarwinds, Active Directory, and Domain Controller.

  • Must understand RMF.

  • Employee will frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds around the worksite.

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision on assigned tasks.

  • Must be able to support shifts that occur outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be more than 40 hours per week.

  • Must be willing to travel to CONUS locations as needed (up to 10% of the time)

  • Must have an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance or higher.

  • Must have a COMPTIA Security + Certification

  • Must hold vendor certification for Operating System supporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold additional COMPTIA ceritifications:  Network + and A+

  • Vender certifications for Windows, Server, and Redhat Linux


Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
