Northrop Grumman CIO is seeking a well-qualified Linux Systems Administrator lead to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in either Redondo Beach, CA or Linthicum, MD. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at either our Redondo Beach, CA or Linthicum, MD campus. Roles and responsibilities will include: 

  • Perform as a lead Linux Systems Administrator for an enterprise classified network.

  • Manage and maintain secure, minimally-interrupted operations of Windows and Linux servers.

  • Develop and document technical procedures.

  • Understand basic AD, LDAP, and DNS concepts and be able to query these services for info.

  • Learn new technologies and work effectively independently, while still coordinating actions as required.

  • Install and configure COTS software, and perform configuration and maintenance.

  • Interact with and successfully utilize boards-of-approval to maintain required security controls and configuration management.

  • Perform technical research on Information Technology topics, as requested, and produce presentations and recommendations.

  • Occasional travel to customer or other Northrop Grumman sites in support of troubleshooting, testing, and deployment activities.

  • Leading actions with peer systems administrators, network administrators, security teams, and desktop technicians.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 7 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 13 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

  • Current Security+CE certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date; maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment.

  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance required on Day 1; maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.

  • Experience managing Redhat Linux OS.

  • Experience configuring, administering, and maintaining patch deployment and management systems.

  • Experience configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and administering computer backup and recovery solutions and providing recovery status reporting to management.

  • Experience with system design and architecture.

  • Excellent technical document preparation and writing skills.

  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework or similar cyber -security, risk-based frameworks.

  • Experience with implementing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IS related field.

  • Currently active DoD polygraph.

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft and Linux operating systems.

  • Experience working in a SCIF environment.

  • Strong knowledge in RedHat Satellite Server and/or Ansible Tower.

  • Experience with configuring and maintaining a large Splunk environment.

  • Experience with configuring and managing Trellix ePO and Tenable.sc.

  • Experience managing Microsoft Windows Servers (2012 and newer).

  • Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.

  • Experience with designing Windows domain architectures, including but not limited to Active Directory, GPOs, Policies, and permissions.

  • VMware and ESXi (6.x or higher) configuration and management experience.

  • Experience with NetApp and/or Nutanix implementation, migration, and maintenance.

  • Redhat Linux System Administration certification(s) (RHCSA/RHCE).

  • AWS Cloud Systems Administration and/or Cloud Architect certification(s).

  • Experience performing and operating in an Agile framework.

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and practices.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time sensitive deliverables.

  • Hands on, self-starting, disciplined, and detail-oriented individual with ability to work independently in a high-volume environment.

  • Efficient, proactive, responsive team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interface effectively with all levels of corporate management and government customers.

  • Experience writing scripts (e.g., Batch, Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate routine tasks.

ESSysAdmin

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Linthicum, MD, MD, USA.


Salary Range: $112,300 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
