We are currently seeking a lead level Staff Data Center Project Engineer to support information systems lifecycle activities at our Aurora, CO location.  

The Project Engineer will maintain smooth operation of local area networks and Data Center Operations.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Provide regular monitoring, and network analysis, regarding short and/or long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
  • Design network (or portion of network) that includes the selection of hardware and software packages.

The Project Engineer will be a local lead, and technical engineer, that can oversee multiple programs and follow Chief Information Office best practices. Additional duties may include oversight, or consultation, on other PGSD data center operations at other locations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree with 11 years of IT experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 14 years of IT experience; OR an Associates Degree with 16 years of IT experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 18 years (or more) of Information Technology experience is required
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with datacenter mechanics/design/architecture with focus on project management
  • Prior experience leading major data center projects to include cabling, power feeds, data center policies & procedures, and meet any additional security requirements is necessary
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT level II baseline certification (Examples: Security+ CE, CCNA- Security); OR must be able to obtain the certification within 6 months of start date
  • Candidates must have a current DOD Top Secret security clearance (at a minimum) to include a current SCI access level, in order to be considered 
  • Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as condition of continued employment 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Information Technology, a CCIE, a PE, and 12 years of data center Project Engineering experience in a classified environment
  • Strong organizational skills, communication with various stakeholders along with technical acumen around datacenter facilities requirements desired.
  • Ability to establish close relationship with site facilities around electrical power, backup and redundancy, cooling and general maintenance along with space or footprint requirements
  • Prior experience leading teams of Network Engineers and System Administrators
  • Current SCI, to include a recent Polygraph, is highly desirable 


Salary Range: $139,400 USD - $209,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
