Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, a leader in software defined, hardware enabled systems for national defense applications, is developing a next-generation Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for Engineering and Manufacturing product and process data.  This system will be the foundation of our digital transformation and the future of advanced Engineering and Manufacturing capabilities and automation within the company, including Model-Based Engineering and Additive Manufacturing.  As a member of the PLM Process and Architecture Team you will be participating in the development effort for the PLM system architecture in close collaboration with Enterprise Services/IT, Engineering, Manufacturing, and senior business leadership to deliver an integrated PLM system that meets cost, schedule, and quality requirements.

The Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Product Owner will support the deployment of Teamcenter Integrations throughout Northrop Grumman Missions Systems as the PLM Solution.  Responsibilities will include working collaboratively to compile business requirements and software capabilities into a cohesive and optimized toolset aligned with sector and enterprise PLM road maps, gathering business partner requirements, and performing gap analyses.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Engage with stakeholders to establish vision and requirements
  • Provide direction to the scrum team and ensure they have adequate work
  • Plan and prioritize the backlog for the product
  • Work closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value
  • Keep abreast of Lean-Agile/Scrum best practices and trends
  • Communicate with stakeholders
  • Accept the work that the team delivers
  • Research and analyze market, users, and third-parties to help define the roadmap for the product
  • Decompose existing business processes and map them to new Teamcenter processes
  • Perform gap analyses between current and future systems
  • Document all aspects of the system; ensure knowledge is readily shared among all those tasked with supporting Teamcenter
  • Support business readiness and change management activities prior to go-live
  • Understand, define, and prioritize business and customer needs to deliver capabilities in the Teamcenter environment
  • Manage budget and schedule for assigned activities
  • Translate Product Roadmap features into well-defined solution requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate efforts with other Team Leads
  • Work with teams to determine effort and provide input to the Product Roadmap

This position will require excellent organizational and time management skills, along with sharp analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail. Success in this role will require a team-player attitude with a strong work ethic and the ability to proactively execute.


We are able to consider candidates for two levels for this role: Principal and Senior Principal, depending on the years and depth of experience.

Basic Qualifications/Principal Level

  • BS/BA Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience. (Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.)

Basic Qualifications/ Senior Principal Level

  • BS/BA Degree with a minimum of 9 years of experience. (Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.)

Remaining Requirements for Both Levels:

  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives working with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify and refine requirements
  • Experience with leading and tasking integrated teams with diverse skillsets
  • Experience implementing system integrations between Teamcenter and SAP utilizing eQube, SAP Product Data Management Integration (PDMI), or Teamcenter Active Integration Gateway (AIG)
  • Working knowledge of SAP PEO or another Enterprise Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Scaled Agile Framework PO/PM certification
  • US Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile development processes and tools
  • General understanding of the Software Lifecycle Process, end user support, and process documentation
  • Experience defining and maintaining requirements for complex systems
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

This position reports to Rolling Meadows, IL, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 10 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
