The selected DBA will provide SQL Server and/or Oracle database support for business application systems.  This individual will apply and develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed without appreciable direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. 

Additionally, the DBA may create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.

Primary duties include:

• Perform database maintenance tasks to support application changes and ensure integrity and efficient performance of the databases. (Typical maintenance tasks include backup, recovery, migration, space management, structural changes, and performance tuning)

• Participate in the research and resolution of database problems.

• Research and install DBMS software packages.

• Document and improve work processes.

• Provide thorough coordination with customers, application developers, customers, and other IT groups.

  

Analytical tasks include but are not limited to: 

• Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.

• Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.

• Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendation regarding enhancements and/or improvements.

• Maintain security and integrity controls.

• Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization.

• Develop stored procedures and/or triggers

This requisition may be filled at a higher level based on the requirements below.

Basic Qualifications:

• Level 2: 2 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years of relevant experience required with a Master’s degree

• Level 3: 5 years of relevant IT experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree

• Proven experience as an Oracle and/or SQL Server Database Administrator

• Active DoD Secret Clearance

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) disciplines
  • Familiarity with Cloud Based Technology
  • Graph technology database experience a plus
  • AWS Certification is a plus 

• SQL Server 2012 or higher

• Oracle 12 experience/knowledge or higher

• 5 years of relevant IT Database experience

• Security+ certification is a plus

-  Active DoD Secret Security Clearance with Background Investigation no older than 5 years is preferred

This position reports to Roy, UT, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Huntsville, AL, AL, USA.


Salary Range: $64,600 USD - $97,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
