Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager (M2) has primary responsibility for all maintenance activities for New River Energetics.
Essential Functions
- Manages the maintenance of Medium Caliber LAP, Commercial Powder, and Ballistics Ranges.
- Develops and manages the Maintenance budget.
- Determines staffing levels.
- Provides direct supervision. Responsible for the supervision of union-represented employees and all disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for capital improvement projects funding requests and management.
- Responsible for vehicle, equipment, and building maintenance and management.
- Responsible for supporting production levels to meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for the safety of all personnel in the Maintenance department.
- Be an advocate for, and strictly follow, all NRE safety, quality, environmental, and production rules and procedures.
- Identify and grow strong people managers and future leaders.
- Actively support an environment of employee engagement and inclusion.
- Firm understating of maintenance metrics and computerized tracking systems.
Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions
- Stand, walk, sit, and climb steps regularly.

- Ability to operate a computer.

Education or Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree In a relevant field with 8 years of experience OR a Master’s Degree in a relevant field with 6 years of experience OR 12 years of relevant experience.
- Operations experience in a chemical and explosives manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Hazardous Operations Safety Standard.
- Knowledge, understanding and participation in Plant Process Control Board for explosive manufacturing environment.
- Experience with development and execution of budgets.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing planning schedules and staffing.
- Experience in cost reduction planning and execution.
- Direct management experience of explosive transportation.
- Proven decision-making experience in high rate, explosive manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing relationships with Customers and Suppliers preferred.
Other Job Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives as an Employee Possessor.
- Must pass RFAAP badging requirements, including background check and drug screening.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
