Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Material Process Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

The Electrical Component Analysis section is looking for a passionate, dedicated individual to join our team as a Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) Lab technician. The successful candidate will support the DPA Lab with performing DPA testing on wide variety of electronic components (passives, actives, connectors, hybrids, IMAs). Conducts experiments and tests involving wafer, electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, optical, hydraulic, metallurgical, vacuum, or chemicals within fabrication or processing laboratories to support engineering and reliability analyses. Evaluates new processes, components, products, and systems in conformance with engineering specifications. Isolates problems for further analyses. Collects and documents results, and generates reports. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. May design experiments. May be required to ensure correct functioning and identify any discrepancies. May advise operators and inform engineers regarding processes, procedures, and equipment. This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) plus 2 years’ experience performing technician responsibilities.

  • Ability to follow test plans

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook) skills

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working at a DPA Lab or electronics failure analysis lab environment

  • Experience with Mil-Std-883, Mil-Std-750, Mil-Std-1580

  • Experience with Destructive Physical Analysis Lab equipment's (such as microscopes, bond-pull, die-Shear, SEM/EDX, cross-sectioning, etc.)

  • Good verbal & written communication skills


Salary Range: $47,600 USD - $79,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
