Fabricates sheet metal products utilizing AMADA punching and forming machinery. Makes sheet metal layouts; sets-up and operates fabricating machinery to create and shape metal over anvils, blocks, or forms.

Programs CNC Machinery to create sheet metal profiles and various punched geometric shapes. Utilize measuring equipment to verify dimensional accuracy in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Attention to detail required to complete documentation, organization skills required, ability to lift 50 pounds, perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and runs multiple production machines in the sheet metal cell. Performs machine operations (including reworking parts) such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts. Performs machine operations where the materials, tooling, and sequence of operations have been pre-planned and established. Makes necessary machine adjustments to ensure proper machine functioning or cutting action.
  • Installs and adjusts cutting tools consistent with type and size of material being machined.
  • Follows established manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling.
  • Operates hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts in accordance with engineering blueprints and route sheets to close tolerances.
  • Inspects parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Uses various types of magnification equipment (including a microscope) to detect and avoid damage to surfaces and critical areas. Visually inspects parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces.
  • Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements.
  • Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of education/related experience.
  • Able to nest sheet metal parts using vendor software.
  • Experienced with press brakes and forming.
  • Reads and follows blueprints, documentation, and verbal instructions.
  • Has working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering
  • Forklift and material movement experience
  • Sheet metal tool sharpening and maintenance
  • SAP, SOLUMINA and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Trade School Certification or four years machining or manufacturing experience.


Salary Range: $43,600 USD - $72,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
