Job Description

An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Space craft Components is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites of all classes. Products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors. The Process Center Leader is responsible for compliance through delivery to internal customers and secondarily to external customers. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of process center execution from program/project kick-off through delivery to and acceptance by downstream customer (product value stream / process center)

  • Managing direct reports of 20+ technicians and 3 managers with 20+ direct reports each

  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding the safety, quality, delivery and cost expectations of internal and external customers within entire assigned process center (s). Ensures plans are developed and executed to meet internal and external customer requirements in coordination with Master Scheduling.

  • Service and Support Product Value Stream Leaders, Process Center Leaders, and Business Support Functions (Finance, HR, etc.) to achieve product and site sharing of resources, tools, equipment, processes, etc.

  • Intense focus and ownership of employee development. Ensure discipline and continuous improvement of all process standards

  • Execute strategies and tactics to achieve breakthrough objectives (Strategy Deployment) and financial goals (Orders, Sales, EBIT, Cash) via operational goals

  • Communicate/escalate key issues related to safety/security, quality, delivery, employee, cost etc. upward to site leadership and downward into the organization Talent Management

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of experience in composite lay up and panel fabrication with a Bachelor's degree; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Prior experience leading a team/process/project

  • Experience in Lean Applications - Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience with employee development

  • Experience developing and driving continuous improvement projects.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a First Line Manager of technicians

  • US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in Aerospace dealing with both government and commercial customers

Salary Range: $111,000 USD - $166,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
