Northrop Grumman Marine Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Production Planning Scheduler/Principal Production Planning Scheduler for our Sunnyvale, CA location to provide production scheduling for our power propulsion units.

What You'll get to Do:

  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and tracks material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, and prepares work orders or purchase requests based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
  • Review and track internal status of customer product. Participate in internal production meetings for assigned work center area and communicate status changes to program management in a timely manner.
  • Take action with correct internal teams to promptly resolve any program schedule issues.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with production coordinator, quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and MRP Planning.
  • Shift start: 6:30am.

This requisition may be filled at either a Production Planning Scheduler level or a Principal Production Planning Scheduler level.

Basic Qualifications for Production Planner and Scheduler:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years directly related work experience in production planning and scheduling
  • Experience utilizing MRP system; SAP preferred.
  • Analytical skills required for determining priorities, lead times, and shop floor schedules.
  • Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language using good grammar and vocabulary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include strong presentation, project and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers and using Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, & PowerPoint.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Production Planner and Scheduler:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years directly related work experience in production control, production planning, or work center scheduling specifically for onsite manufacturing or in machine shop environment; Master's Degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • 2+ years hands on Shop Floor or Machine Shop Planning experience utilizing MRP system; SAP preferred.
  • Experience utilizing MRP system; SAP preferred.
  • Analytical skills required for determining priorities, lead times, and shop floor schedules.
  • Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language using good grammar and vocabulary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include strong presentation, project and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers and using Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel (intermediate level or higher) & PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Business Management.
  • CPIM or APICS training.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma process improvement experience.
  • Experience working in a low volume, high mixed manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management a plus.
  • Able to effectively interact in a cross functional group setting, both verbally and in writing, such as Program Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Executives.
  • Able to read and interpret MRP, bills of materials, routings, non-conforming materials reports, and other common manufacturing documents.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze spreadsheets and data to enable operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to cross functional group, both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range: $63,800 USD - $95,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $78,500 USD - $117,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
