Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Machinist 2. This position will be located in Saint Augustine, Florida. We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications. 

The Machinist 2 will be responsible for setting up and operating 3 Axis Milling Machines and HAAS CNC Lathe. This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist who desires exciting and challenging work to join our team!

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).  
  • Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.
  • Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Program and edit G-Code and conversational.
  • Implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.

The ideal candidate will be able to work under minimal supervision, be a quick learner, and a team player. They will have high integrity and understand the importance of escalating errors to their supervisor immediately. 

*This position may require the ability to work a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00pm – 1:30am and will work a 4/10 schedule Monday - Thursday.  Shift differential will be paid during eligible times.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent/GED and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
  • Experience running machines and setup.
  • Experience on 3 Axis CNC machines
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.
  • The ability to pass Special Medical/Respiratory Exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience with 3 Axis CNC vertical machining centers and HAAS or other CNC Lathe.
  • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance investigated within the last 5 1/2 years
  • Associates degree or Trade School certification
  • Experience with composite, honeycomb, and aluminum materials

Salary Range: $41,000 USD - $68,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
