Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manager, General Manufacturing 2 for 1st shift to join as the Cell Manager for the IRCM manufacturing cell within the Shop Operations Organization. This position is located in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

What You'll get to Do:

The General Manufacturing Manager 2 is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a manufacturing environment. The Manager provides direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies.

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Driving employee efficiency.
  • Meeting product cost and schedule targets.
  • Managing the area to produce quality products.
  • Engaging employees to achieve their highest potential.

This Manager will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 3 Exempt Managers, and indirect supervision of approximately 50 Non-Exempt touch labor employees.

The Manager is expected to work independently across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage employees to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage Operators/Finishers.

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direction for employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies with direct supervision of employees in a manufacturing environment across multiple shifts.
  • Issues all job assignments and creates reports of any hardware discrepancies to various support group personnel in a timely manner, meeting quality and cost goals.
  • Work independently across organizations.
  • Manage the use of consumables to achieve the budget target.
  • Support calibration process for equipment (POC)
  • Assign and manage staff to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields.
  • Responsible for driving the team to achieve monthly delivery objectives for the cell, meeting scrap rates, and reporting on training requirements.
  • Support ISO, LEAN, World class manufacturing practices
  • Ability to document and standardize tasks and efforts.
  • Implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule.
  • Perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage personnel.
  • Support time input and Labor relations regarding policies and procedures
  • Validate work that instructions and machine process documentation are up to date and followed.
  • Ensure that equipment and work area remain clean and orderly.
  • Position is onsite only.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience; master's degree with 3+ years of experience; Relevant management experience will be considered.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in management or leadership of people and/or processes
  • At least 3+ years of manufacturing or production or engineering experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production concepts
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (US citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, process/mechanical/electrical engineering, or other STEM area
  • Experience with automation, manual assembly rework, electro-optical assembly and test, laser assembly/test
  • Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with tableau reporting dashboards.
  • Experience with production control and manufacturing processes
  • Active Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $106,000 USD - $159,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
