Adaptive Optics Associates – Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Unit, is currently seeking an Additive Manufacturing Technician 3 to support our manufacturing operations in Devens MA.

AOA Xinetics (AOX) designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy.

Overview

Reporting to the Precision Devices Manager, the Additive Manufacturing Technician 3 performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations related to Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing quality testing related to the production of parts and components.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Operate state-of-the-art 3D printers to produce novel components

  • Perform daily printer start/stop operations and perform maintenance as needed such as loading in printer feedstock and preparing printing substrates

  • Perform post-print operations such as cleaning and measuring printed components

  • Perform routine 3D printer maintenance and hygiene procedures to ensure equipment is always ready to perform with reduced downtime

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing team members to conduct and improve manufacturing operations

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and four years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment, conducting mechanical inspection of tools and related machines, and performing equipment maintenance

  • Passionate about learning and hands-on operation of machinery

  • Comfortable being trained on new processes, ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Mechanically inclined and willing to document and investigate issues, excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to think outside the box to overcome technical challenges

  • Detail oriented, ability to accurately execute precision steps

  • Strong communication skills

  • A learning mindset, able to provide and receive critical feedback

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

  • Ability to stand on your feet up to 8 hours a day

  • US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience reading work orders and part drawings

  • Experience operating advanced manufacturing equipment (3D printer, CNC machine, laser cutter/welder, wire EDM, etc.)

  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting where quality is of the utmost importance

Salary Range: $56,600 USD - $94,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
