Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Machinist 3. This position will be supporting our Hopkinton, MA. facility, and requires onsite presence due to the nature of the role.  We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications.

The Machinist 3 will be responsible for machining parts per drawings and solid models using standard machine shop tooling including the use of Southwestern DPM and LPM milling machines and Trak Lathe.  The machined parts consist of tight tolerance (+/-.001), complex and RF microwave items in a secured environment.  Close interaction with engineering and manufacturing is required.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Review drawings to determine raw stock and tooling requirements
  • Generate programming using Master CAM
  • Work from drawings/solid models

The ideal candidate is experienced in operating manual machines and programming with Master CAM.

*The is a first shift position working a 9/80 shift.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Ability to work within MS applications i.e., Excel, (with the ability to create, edit, log and track data in spreadsheets) and data entry
  • Ability to perform mathematical machining equations
  • Ability to set up and operate Proto-Trak DPM Milling machines
  • Experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work from drawings and solid models
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and stand for 2 hours at a time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience working in a machine shop
  • Ability to program DPM and LPM Milling centers
  • Experience programming Haas CNC
  • Silver Torch Brazing experience

Salary Range: $56,000 USD - $94,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
