Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a for a Manager of Production Planning Scheduling 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.   This position will be located in Iuka, MS.

In this position you will lead all aspects of all Production Planning with responsibility for Master Scheduling, Forecast Management, Material Planning, Inventory Control, and Logistics. Identifies, develops, and implements the department metrics and goals to achieve results and execute programs and projects on time and within budgets. Drive consistent policies in support of business standards and objectives while mitigating risk. Provides the leadership skills to influence, empower, and advise the staff to build effective department and foster cooperation between the various functional counterparts.

Essential Functions:

  • Build strong working relationships with key customers, with metrics that build customer satisfaction, including: Site Leader(s), Operation Leaders
  • Responsible for the lifecycle execution of the production planning process which includes, loading sales orders/purchase orders, forecast demand, material planning, material consumption, material control, shipment of finished goods, and logistics
  • Responsible to coordinate the generation of schedules and develop strategies to support new business proposals
  • Attend regular program and production meetings
  • Implements and maintains process improvements by analyzing and establishing best practices for demand management and materials management
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, and logistics
  • Manage internal and external supplier relationships and resolve any raised issues related to daily activities. Engage with Internal partners in order to generate and execute ideas and opportunities.
  • Lead a team including performance reviews, motivating team members, and providing appropriate communication to team members
  • Implement LEAN continuous improvement for existing facilities and new facilities
  • Solid understanding of EDI, MRP/ERP systems and functionality

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the planning and scheduling of the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods and related material through production and inventory processes
  • Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules
  • Prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of demonstrated ability in Supply Chain, MRP or ERP experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of demonstrated ability in Supply Chain, MRP or ERP experience; or High School Diploma and 8 years of demonstrated ability in Supply Chain, MRP or ERP experience.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access
  • Computer literate with intermediate level of Microsoft Project, Excel, and Power Point capability
  • Advanced solid understanding of Production and Inventory Control concepts, including Supply Chain Management, Material Requirements Planning, Lean Manufacturing Concepts, material replenishment, repairs, cycle time, inventory levels, scrap rate, pricing, suppliers, and contracts
  • Ability to solve problems effectively
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to support team environment and build strong team
  • Aircraft and/or composite manufacturing experience
  • Experience in aerospace scheduling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel

Salary range:  $75,800 - $113,600

This position reports to Iuka, MS, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Huntsville, AL, AL, USA.


Salary Range: $75,800 USD - $113,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
