Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Tool Die Making 2 - Metrology to lead our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at our Iuka, Mississippi location.

Our team develops and implements complex laser tracker (metrology) inspection processes utilizing highly complex inspection systems.  We support multiple prime contractors for military and commercial programs.  This includes managing non-exempt technicians working multiple programs and will be responsible for the combined strategic (long-term) and tactical (short-term) management planning activities.

This position does not require a DoD Secret Clearance to be considered or hired, but will require the selected candidate to have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.

Responsibilities:

  • Has overall responsibility for execution of safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, along with employee engagement for the Quality Assurance laser tracker inspection team.
  • Strong focus on safe work environment, Zero Defects, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Manages both the strategic and short-term tactical activities of the work area.
  • Optimizes inspection flow and production rates to meet customer demands, improve inventory turns and drive month over month cost improvement.
  • Responsible for proactive resource management to mitigate production schedule risks.
  • Support a work environment characterized by employee involvement and participative management to encourage the highest level of employee commitment and cooperation.
  • Manage inspection team staffing levels to support customer requirements while maintaining efficient operations.
  • Promptly responds to technical issues that arise on the production floor utilizing work instructions, design documents, and specifications

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment with diverse assignments. We do most of our work on the production floor, and we collaborate closely with technicians, manufacturing/process engineers. quality engineers, operation managers, and customers. Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED (education will be verified) and a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of metrology experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance and special program access clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determine by business needs
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills related to computer aided metrology systems such as laser trackers, articulated arms, etc.
  • Experience with Spatial Analysis, Polyworks or Verisurf Software
  • Technical strengths in composite processing, operations, and inspection
  • Must be familiar with standard mechanical Inspection techniques and tools

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • An active (in-scope) DoD Secret security clearance last investigated within 5 1/2 years
  • Efficient at MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office systems
  • Capable of verifying, updating, and flow down of department procedures for technical adequacy
  • Capable of conducting laser tracker inspections for the acceptance of parts and document the results
  • Strong coursework in Math (Geometry & Trigonometry)
  • Experience or training of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Experience and familiarity with assembly tooling and/or inspection requirements of composite parts/materials.
  • Ability to communicate/interface with multiple levels, such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Tool Design to interpret, analyze, and advise on the data/inspection results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Self-Starter and ability to work through an issue to closure
  • Preference will be given to individuals already accessed to Special Access Program

Salary Range: $100,000 USD - $150,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
