An organization within Northrop Grumman Space Systems’ Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Cutting Edge Optronics is a leading provider of high-power laser diode arrays, high power pump modules and diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer capable of supplying unmounted diode bars, packaged laser diodes, DPSS modules, laser diode drivers and complete DPSS laser systems. Our diode laser-based products have become industry standards and are used in a wide variety of commercial and military applications.

CEO seeks a highly motivated, 2nd shift Manufacturing Manager with strong team skills, able to lead an established manufacturing area to higher levels of productivity and performance through a significant production ramp-up period and beyond. The chosen candidate will display a passion for manufacturing results while highly focused on team-oriented execution. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage a manufacturing area with approximately 5-10 hourly employees 
  • Accountability for achieving aggressive growth targets for production volume, on time delivery, quality focus and cost management 
  • Work closely with company-wide functions (Quality, Safety, Engineering, Customer Service, Finance, Procurement, Senior Management, etc.) to ensure all goals of manufacturing are accomplished with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and regulatory compliance 
  • Organizing and coordinating daily area activities to meet internal and external customer commitments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Support the sharing of direct labor resources within Operations
  • Support the selection and hiring of new employees
  • Coordinate employee training and development activities
  • Proactively identifying and reacting to employee performance issues
  • Complete midyear and annual performance reviews for assigned personnel
  • Support consistent and uniform application of HR policies amongst managers
  • Coordinate activities with other managers

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of applicable experience, 3 years of applicable experience with Masters, and/or 0 years of experience with a PhD. or 9 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment 
  • Demonstrated experience with a relevant ERP system for manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience with servant leadership style

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Working knowledge of Visual Manufacturing 
  • Experience with manufacturing in Diode Pump Solid State Laser Industry
  • Experience in managing hourly workforce
  • Experience in managing training initiatives of the hourly workforce
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and/or teams

Salary Range: $76,500 USD - $114,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
