The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector in Buffalo, NY has an immediate opening for a motivated Production Manager 1 with a proven track record of driving improvement initiatives.

The Production Manager 1 must possess strong leadership abilities, excellent verbal and written communications skills and effective problem-solving capabilities. In this role, the Production Manager 1 will need to be self-motivated with a solid business acumen, strong technical skills, demonstrated high level of attention to detail and quality, strong quantitative and analytical skills, demonstrated success in working in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm when under pressure.

This individual will be responsible for supervising and training employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.  The selected candidate should be willing to support their team and be hands-on in performing assembly or test tasks to ensure successful and timely delivery of objectives.  The Production Manager 1 should be prepared to lead by example by working additional hours when they have direct reports working during non-typical times.

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Determine daily production schedules based on coordination with MFG support staff and in conjunction with engineering plans, production specifications, plant capacity, availability of parts, and other resource requirements.

  • Work in conjunction with other production managers to develop and execute the overall strategy of the assembly and/or test workforce at the Buffalo campus including establishing capacity, equipment and training plans to meet current and future demand. 

  • Breakdown broad strategies to practical action plans and ensure employees are trained to perform these plans.

  • Recommend employee training to enhance skill and productivity. 

  • Readjust employee schedules according to production progress, change orders, or other delaying conditions. 

  • This position will also be responsible for developing and tracking monthly metrics associated the efficiency (performance index) of the staff that reports to them. 

  • The Production Manager will coordinate as needed to determine status of assigned projects.  

  • This position will have a key role in leading continuous improvement projects and will develop and maintain a comprehensive set of quantitative metrics to better manage area performance. 

  • Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and 7 years of industry experience with at least 3 years of leadership experience.

  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing methods, procedures and product quality.

  • Demonstrated success in working in a team environment and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working in a performance based and metrics driven culture.

  • Experience developing and presenting metrics and utilizing metrics to improve manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

  • Previous or current certifications in IPC-610 and/or J-STD 001.

  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical manufacturing/production processes.

  • Experience with electrical testing processes.

  • Extensive MS Excel experience

  • Lean manufacturing experience and an understanding of Six Sigma.

  • Understanding of the products produced at the Buffalo campus including the CEESIM and JTE.

  • Experience working with TipQA and Deltek Costpoint.

MANUMS

This position reports to Buffalo, NY, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $84,200 USD - $126,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
