An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These “solid-state” laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. Roles and Responsibilities

Performs multiple tasks on an assigned team, project, or functional area. Tasks will typically be performed within full-scale production manufacturing operations and include tasks such as non-routine and non-repetitive production electronic, mechanical, electromechanical assembly; quality assurance and reliability testing following established methods and procedures; production scheduling and control; and coordinating, planning, and expediting the flow of material, parts, and assemblies. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Must pass all job-specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments. May provide training to less experienced team members. Participates in program or functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with standard hand tools and measuring devices including calipers and rulers
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
• Computer experience, ability to work with spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a technical discipline
• Mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills

Salary Range: $31,200 USD - $49,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
