Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Principal / Sr. Principal Manufacturing Analyst to assist our Nozzle Value Stream organization at our Promontory, Utah facility.

This position is responsible for implementation of improvement initiatives and managing the operational support activities associated with nozzle manufacturing processes. May lead mishap investigations, coach teams to solve problems, remove barriers, and conduct audits of operation processes to ensure compliance to written documents, quality controls, tool acceptability, and safety regulations.  Additionally, the Manufacturing Analyst fills in for front line leaders and department manager as needed.  The Manufacturing Analyst must communicate effectively and initiate necessary actions to ensure that organizational goals are accomplished. Also required is the identification of systemic improvements needed for establishing overall process stability, and driving improvement.

Job Duties:

  • Initiate appropriate support organization work orders for facilities, tooling and maintenance activities and track to completion

  • Coordinate production needs with scheduled maintenance work

  • Develop and maintain SWCT (Standard Work Combination Table) and JEB (Job Evaluation Breakdown) for each team

  • Assist operations in preparing various reports for the Value Stream

  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and appropriate customers to develop effective cause and corrective actions

  • Lead 8D Cause and Corrective Action projects

  • Capacity and Operational Availability analysis

  • Track various metrics and projects

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Identify best practices to share and standardize across Value Steams

  • Develop knowledge and expertise to be considered a strategic SME for the work areas

Experience Requirements:

  • People leadership – able to work with a diverse group to achieve common goals.

  • Experience with capacity analysis, approaches to improving operational availability.  

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and operating procedures.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to apply lean principles to improve process flow and standardization of processes.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • A demonstrated commitment to Safety and Quality, including safety and quality improvements

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture to ensure that organizational goals are accomplished

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • Proficiency in ESI (Electronic Shop Instructions) system

  • Proficiency in ePic (Specifications and drawings) system

Education/Experience - Principal Manufacturing Analyst

  • BS degree in Business or Technical field with 4 years of related experience

  • Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree with 6 years of relevant experience

Education/Experience - Senior Principal Manufacturing Analyst

  • BS degree in Business or Technical field with 6 years of related experience

  • Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree with 8 years of relevant experience


Salary Range: $74,600 USD - $111,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,400 USD - $138,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
