Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Product Support Manager to join our team in Yorktown, Virginia in support of the U.S. Navy's MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo program. We are embedded at our customer site, Navy Submarine Torpedo Facility, which is dedicated to build the best for the best US warfighter in theater.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of 4 or more individuals and delegates work assignments

  • Reports directly to the Technical Program Manager on issues related to program performance

  • Creates goals, perform mid-term coaching and end of year evaluations

  • Evaluates employee merit at end of year

  • Manages production schedule requirements for the Guidance and Control section of the MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo in a production environment to preclude impact to customer production needs

  • Submits overtime requests to the government if workload requirements are not being met

  • Evaluates production requirements and orders materials or tooling to maintain required needs

  • Submits waivers, procedural change requests, or system trouble reports to the government for process improvements to correct or identify deficiencies in current maintenance procedures

  • Submits waivers to the government for out of norm processing

  • Interfaces directly with the customer’s production department on a weekly basis to discuss down equipment and expected return to service status

  • Creates contract required monthly reports and submits to Technical Program Manager for submission to government

  • Creates requisitions, interviews, and hires for vacancies within the work center

  • Tracks qualifications of current full-time employees within work center to ensure qualified technicians are performing to current standards

  • Reviews all maintenance printouts and processing documentation to ensure all quality objective evidence has been met prior to adjudicating retuning of equipment to customer

  • Evaluate needs and schedule short term and long term training plans per the customer requirements and training material to support requirements

  • Track employee required and customer required training and ensure completions within the desired period

  • Be able to understand electro/mechanical systems

  • Be able to organize and collectively manage spare parts in accordance with Customer required Quality Manual requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree and 5 years' of experience, or 10 years’ of experience in a leadership role in lieu of a degree

  • Supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries

  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role leading a team of individuals in various roles

  • Must be versed in Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, MS TEAMS

  • Must be able to achieve Government Ordnance Qualifications to a level of Safety Observer level

  • Must be able to pass an annual Arms, Ammunition and Explosive screen by the customer to validate unescorted presence within the customer facility, customer validates 13 elements to include financial indebtedness, allegiance to the United States of America, drug use, etc.

  • Must be a US Citizen with an Interim or Active Secret/Top Secret security clearance to start

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electro/mechanical discipline

  • 10 years of experience as a manager in a production environment to include scheduling, deconflicting production requirements, implementing process improvements while adhering to current quality control guidelines

  • Recognize customer requirements and be able to adapt schedules, effectively communicate and resolve any Customer scheduling conflicts in a professional manner and provide alternative solutions

  • Experience in root cause analysis and developing corrective actions to prevent further occurrences and implementing/verifying action plans


Salary Range: $76,500 USD - $114,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $0 USD - $95,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
