Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Mission Assurance 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our El Segundo Mission Assurance organization. This leadership role is located in El Segundo, CA (On-site).

The Manager Mission Assurance 1 will be responsible for managing a team of Quality Inspectors across the F/A-18 product line, AMC, Paint Shop, Shipping and Receiving at the El Segundo Manufacturing Center. In this role, the chose candidate will support activities for the F-35, F/A-18, B-2 and other programs which will include the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Will lead the team conducting Product Quality activities for production assembly, including engineering, inspection, visibility/metrics, Foreign Object Elimination, compliance, stock purge, retrievals, product verification, advanced stage of assembly repairs, sealing, paint, closeouts, and customer interface.
  • Will represent hardware delivery in interfaces with DCMA, Boeing, other customer representatives and Global Supply Chain Suppliers.
  • Develops, maintains and ensures compliance with quality assurance policies, processes, procedures.
  • Ensures that program performance and quality of products conform to established standards and specifications.
  • Works directly with operating entities to ensure that inspections, process control analyses and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements and meet specifications.
  • Leadership in demonstration and adherence to the quality management system at the site level for El Segundo.
  • Requires strong background with Quality Assurance principles, along with strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • The qualified candidate will lead a diverse multifunctional Quality & Mission Assurance Team.
  • Leading quality improvement initiatives
  • Driving effective robust root cause, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Developing innovative inspection strategies
  • Objectively monitor process adherence throughout the site and across the product life cycle in accordance with Command Media and the Quality Management System
  • Management of team and assignments across multiple programs, including budget considerations.
  •  Fostering an inclusive environment where team members are highly engaged
  • Mentoring and career development, including training
  • Implementing a strategy for talent acquisition and pipeline development.
  • Apply systematic, data-driven approaches to monitor and improve the quality of processes & products
  • Deliver objective insights and solutions to enable high quality business outcomes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in one or more areas: Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance OR a Master's Degree AND 3 years; of related professional/ military experience in one or more areas: Engineering Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance OR a High School Diploma AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in one or more areas: Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance
  • Must have 3 years of prior leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Current and active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, globally, and to all levels of any organization
  • Proficiency in root cause and corrective action
  • Advanced level of understanding of complex quality policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Strong orientation to change in a dynamic and logistically challenging environment
  • Material Review Board Process Knowledge
  • Demonstrated effective experienced with DCMA
  • F-35, F/A-18 product experience (preferably in quality/assembly/production)
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System

Salary Range: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
