Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Manager of Quality 2 for the Palmdale, CA facility! 

Manages a segment of a program or a function. Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies. Program Manager responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract.

• Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.

• Competence is required in a specialized or technological field. Full working knowledge of procedures and practices.

• Relates more to specific job function. Risk to the Corporation is minimal. Makes decisions that support accomplishment of discipline objective.

• Oversees projects and task assigned to the organizational group performed by non-exempt and/or exempt employees. Becomes involved only when required to assist in meeting schedules or to resolve technical or operational problems. May accomplish results through lower level supervisor or exempt employees.

• Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Interprets and executes policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units. Recommends modifications to operating policies.

• Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget

• Accomplishes results through lower-level subordinate supervisors or through experienced exempt employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Often head a centralized functional activity.

• Functions as an advisor to unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems.

• Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments would normally result in serious delays to assigned projects resulting in considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources and funds.

• Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree.

• Minimum of 9+ years in the Aircraft, Aerospace, Manufacturing Industries or related Military Service.

• Minimum of 3 Years of management, lead or supervisor experience

• Ability to read blueprints and specifications and to ensure that tools meet production standards

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

• Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Be proficient in root cause and corrective action

• Familiarity of the Quality Management System

• Must have ability to work flexible schedule 1st or 2nd shift

• Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Special Program Access

• Travel as needed 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Aerospace/Defense Industry experience

• Strong Tooling background

• Must Know Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance standards (GD&T)

• Knowledge of Quality Tooling Inspection System (QTIS)

• Sophisticated level of understanding of quality policies, procedures

• Ability to analyze alternative courses of action where decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of Influence.

• Be proficient in root cause and corrective action

Salary Range: $118,600 USD - $178,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
