Northrop Grumman Space seeks Internal AS9100/ISO 9100 Quality Auditor to join our Tactical Space Systems Division. This position is located in Dulles, VA and fills a critical need on our Quality Management System (QMS) team, reporting directly to the QMS Manager.

The qualified applicant will join a diverse group of Mission Assurance and product realization professionals. We are looking for a high-caliber individual with a background in process auditing focused on AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements in an aerospace and defense environment; with industry experience in quality management systems, mission assurance, and/or process improvement to join the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Quality Management System (QMS) audits and process audits for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Evaluates and provides guidance for corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications.
  • Evaluates non-conformances, negative performance trends and failures to alert management to potential systemic process issues.
  • Reviews audit findings after corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Supports customer and external audits of our QMS standards, as a Point of Contact and audit escort.
  • Supports continuous improvement activities within the QMS.
  • Interfaces directly with internal manufacturing, engineering, operations, supply chain, program management, contracts, property management, and customer representatives at all levels to ensure all QMS requirements are met, adhered to, and compliant.
  • Interfaces with QMS team members, and the Safety & Mission Assurance organization, located in Gilbert, Arizona, and Dulles, Virginia.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience in process auditing focused on AS9100 and ISO9001 requirements in an aerospace and defense environment.
  • AS9100 Certified Lead Auditor.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in quality management systems, process management, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience performing internal audits for AS9100 compliance.
  • Experience working with various stakeholders, including upper management and customers.
  • Experience with nonconformance and corrective action database systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (US Citizenship Required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with TipQA, Windchill, SharePoint, Jira, and One Note.
  • ASQ Certified Auditor.
  • Appreciation for a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Experience in reporting and successful remediation of Corrective Action Requests.
  • Agile project management experience.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green / Black-Belt certified.
  • Experience in process modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills.

This position reports to Dulles, VA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Gilbert, AZ, AZ, USA.


Salary Range: $74,000 USD - $119,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
