Northrop Grumman Australia partners with the Royal Australian Air Force to provide through-life support for its fleet of C-27J Spartan Airlifter aircraft. The C-27J complements the Australian Defence Force’s existing Air Mobility fleet and provides airlift of people, equipment and supplies to support Humanitarian Disaster Relief and crisis response in Australia and nearby regions.

Your Role:

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Level 2 Non-Destructive Inspection Technician (NDT) to join the C-27J Base Maintenance team at RAAF Base Amberley.

As an NDT Technician, you will be responsible for performing various inspection techniques including Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle, Liquid/Fluid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Radiography, Hardness, and Conductivity.

It is crucial to comply with maintenance manuals, publications, and adhere to all Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) Aeronautical regulatory procedures. You will be expected to generate engineering reports detailing identified defects within the Aircraft structure, including data transfer, image preparation, creation, and formatting.

Communication is key, and you will need to regularly update progress on each job, promptly communicate delays or issues, and provide data relating to quality control and weekly KPI figures. Collaborating with management to investigate maintenance or servicing concerns and suggesting appropriate solutions will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will work closely with the

AME Structures Supervisor and be involved in Line and Heavy Non-Destructive Inspection on C-27J Spartan aircraft.
