Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Receive, verify, pack and count material.  Move material (both hazardous and routine) utilizing various material handling equipment.  Assemble all packing material necessary to pack, stencil, label and ship material per appropriate specifications.  Operate company vehicles to pick up and deliver various supplies and materials.

The following are the usual major job:

1. Obtain and work to all required documentation to receive, store, issue, pack, move/ship material.  Verbal instruction may be issued in lieu of written instruction.

2. Personnel assigned to the Shipping area will submit purchase order and/or shipping paperwork to the appropriate departments. Perform such duties as receiving, storage, movement, material issues, transfers, track, packing, marking and processing for various shipments.

3. Personnel assigned to the Hazardous Material area will assure that terminated or scrapped material is disposed of in accordance with established salvage procedures.  Receive, store and issue wooden pallets, ledger and contract bulk chemical material and reusable drums.

4. Personnel assigned to the use of outside vehicles require a State of Maryland Class “B” license.  Load and unload trucks and ensure the adequate protection during the movement of materials.

5. Obtain and verify all materials using required equipment to check and identify quantity, size, weight, and any physical damage.  Record discrepancies and/or report to supervisor when necessary.

6. Check all trucks and material for appropriate hazardous placards and labeling.

7. Maintain inventory required working materials and establish a reorder list to maintain proper inventory. Visually check returned tools for safety hazards and defects and report same to supervision.

8. Maintain all logs and records required to perform the job, including vehicle maintenance where required

9.  Utilize all required material handling equipment in order to move material safely.

10. Set up power saws and drills and make necessary adjustments to cut and drill material to required size

11. Work under the direction of personnel designated by supervisor.

12. Maintain and update data systems using a variety of electronic pieces of data processing equipment, such as bar code reader, computer, etc.  Input such information as quantity, verification of damages, shortages, releases and other discrepancies as required.

13. Work with appropriate personnel to obtain all materials in the work-in-a process operation and resolve all problems pertaining to receiving, storage, and issuing and packaging of material.

14. Utilize tracking devices, scanners, and the like for material movement visibility.

15. Use data system to update packing status for visibility.

16. Maintain training certifications as required.

17. Operate data entry equipment, such as computers and calculators, to record and store all information from data transactions accurately, completely and in a timely manner.

18. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition

Basic Qualifications:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

- High School graduate or recognized equivalent. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

-Must be able to demonstrate via a structured interview the ability to read and comprehend work instructions and possess basic measurement skills
