Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal SCA Risk Management Framework (RMF) System Support Specialist to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Bliss near El Paso, Texas.  The selected candidate will perform information assurance technical (IAT) II duties for RMF, interact with the government ISSM to ensure synchronization.  The employee will ensure that the other RMF server technicians perform their daily duties. 

Responsibilities:

  • Builds, maintains, configures, and updates Server Operating systems and Applications, and applies Information Assurance Vulnerability Managements (IAVMS) and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Runs the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool and runs vulnerability scans on the: Domain Controllers (DC) servers, Hypervisors (HV), Host Based Security System (HBSS) servers, Network Management System (NMS) servers, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) Security Centers (SC) and NESSUS systems, and Standalone (configuration and antivirus laptops), Advanced Simulation Technology Inc. (ASTI) management laptops, and other systems which support RMF (example:  management laptops, etc.)

  • Downloads and applies Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) updates and plug-ins manually on the HBSS, ACAS SC, and NESSUS

  • Updates and maintains documentation for Servers and systems

  • Downloads, applies, and maintains STIG checklists (Server, Internet Explorer (IE), .NET, Redhat Linux, McAfee, Active Directory, Domain Name System, HBSS ePO/Hip/Firewall/Policy/Rogue Sensor/Agent Handler, Firefox, Oracle JRE, IIS Server/Site, Database, Windows 10/Privileged User, Adobe Reader, Office, and Google Chrome)

  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly checks on HBSS, HVs, DCs, ACAS Security Centers, and NMS

  • Performs weekly and monthly backups for logs and HBSS, HVs, DCs, ACAS Security Centers, and NMS servers

  • Invokes warranties, researches repair parts, and submits purchase requests

  • Escorts Vendor repair personnel when visiting MTC buildings for repairs

  • Assists Network Administrators with troubleshooting

  • Performs IAT I and IAT II duties for the Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN)

  • Supports all MTC users (government, contractor, and military) with NIPR ICAN support which includes hardware, software, and configuration

  • Works with the Fort Hood Network Enterprise Center (NEC) with NIPR ICAN and user problems, which include research NIPR user and system problems, submit and work remedy tickets, and escort NEC personnel when visiting MTC buildings

  • Updates the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) Internet Service Provider (ISP) documentation for the NIPR Tenant Security Plan (TSP), which includes building and room VISIO diagrams and maintain Appendix C inventory

  • Assists units and other organizations, and coordinates with the Fort Hood NEC for exercise and training NIPR connections, by checking NIPR systems in for units and other organizations, and work with units and other organizations to place NIPR VOIPs in work cells

  • Scans peripherals for viruses

  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems

  • Updates ASTi with Program Manager updates and software

  • Supports the MTC, units, and other organizations during exercises

  • Helps units with Tactical Operations Center Inter-Communication System (TOCNET) Enhanced Micro Central Switching Unit (eMCSU) connections during exercises

  • Troubleshoots Northrop Grumman systems and ISP connection

  • Provides audio/visual support

  • Assists Spoke sites (Bliss, Carson, Riley, Sill, and Joint Base San Antonio), which may include travel

  • Escorts Department of Public Works (DPW) facility personnel in secure rooms for maintenance, repairs, and Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) unit filter replacements

  • Works with Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information System Security Officer (ISSO) on U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), Installation Management Command (IMCOM), and Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) projects

  • Works with the Security Manager, ISSM, and ISSO to ensure Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) standards are followed

  • Works with the Security Manager and Specialist to ensure all physical security measures are met

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of technical experience

    • Masters’ degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 3 years of technical experience

  • Valid CompTIA Security+ CE certification

  • Must hold an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must hold vendor certification for Operating System supporting

  • Must have administrative knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016/2019, Redhat Linux, Windows 10, SQL, HBSS, ACAS, and VMware

  • Ability to obtain computer environment certificate of training for all Operating Systems supported (this can be done on an approved Army site)

  • Must have knowledge of Solarwinds, Active Directory, and Domain Controller

  • Thorough understanding of RMF

  • Ability to frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds around the worksite

  • Must be able to support shifts that occur outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be more than 40 hours per week

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold additional COMPTIA ceritifications:  Network + and A+

  • Vendor certifications for Windows, Server, and Redhat Linux


Salary Range: $35 USD - $35 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
