We are looking for you to join our team as an Electrical Engineer based out of Annapolis, MD. As an Electrical Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll Get to Do:

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join a dedicated, highly engaged hardware engineering team.  You will have the opportunity to support a variety of unique electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems designed for maritime applications.

The types of systems supported include:

  • Power Conversion and Distribution
  • Battery and Energy Storage
  • Motors and Motor Controllers
  • Communications
  • Industrial Controls, Connectors & Cabling

    The ideal candidate brings solid engineering skills along with a multi-disciplined background, a hands-on work ethic, and a good understanding of engineering fundamentals. This opportunity involves a broad spectrum of tasking that will rely heavily on the candidate's existing skills and experience.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Power and battery system architecture development
  • Designing circuits and electronic assemblies
  • Generating formal engineering documentation (drawings, procedures, etc.)
  • Hands-on testing and troubleshooting
  • Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and system
  • Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings

**This position can be filled as a Principal or Sr. Principal level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a related field.
  • Experience with power electronics and systems
  • Experience with energy storage systems
  • Experience simulating electrical designs using SPICE or equivalent modeling software
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or 4 years with a PhD in a related field.
  • Experience with power electronics and systems
  • Experience with energy storage systems
  • Experience simulating electrical designs using SPICE or equivalent modeling software
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and layout, engineering drawings and technical writing
  • Experience designing, integrating and testing power conditioning circuits for complex systems
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and evaluating battery projects using sound engineering principles
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Strong familiarity with underwater systems, including cabling and connector interfaces
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Designer/Expedition for CCA design and layout
  • Professional background on systems deployed on Naval platforms
  • Active or Current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance


Salary Range: $96,600 USD - $179,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
